About the Event

The main event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Manor Hall was held at the hall on Saturday 26th April 2008. All alumni, current students and friends were invited to this historic event, which also marked the reforming of the Manor Hall Association.

The celebrations started with a performance from the Lion Dance Troupe with a Dim Jing ceremony performed by the local MP Mr Stephen Williams. There was then a tea party in the Junior Common Room. The Warden then gave tours of the hall and grounds. In the early evening a classical concert was put on in the library, showcasing talent from current and former Manor Hall students. This was followed by a drinks reception in the Stops Gallery and dinner at the full 120 capacity in the Great Hall, rounded off with a speech by the Guest of Honour, Dame Carol Black, Pro Chancellor of the University and previous JCR President 1961-2. A Plaque was then unveiled above the library in the foyer by Dame Carol. Evening entertainment lasted late into the night in the bar, JCR Room and even out onto the patio.
