Martin Crossley Evans Memorial Service

On Saturday 23rd April 2022 a Memorial service was held for Martin John Crossley Evans M.B.E., J.P., B.A., Ph.D., F.S.A., F.G.S. in the Great Hall of the Wills Memorial Building. The event was attended by Martin's family and friends and colleagues from both within and outside the university. A choir was assembled, there was a procession, hymns, eulogies and readings as part of the service.

Martin was 64 when he died on October 18th 2021 at the Lancaster Royal Infirmary following a fall. He retired from his Wardenship of Manor Hall in in 2018, a position of which he held since 1984. Martin's funeral was held on 15th November 2021 and he is buried in Christ Church Churchyard in Willaston.

A portrait of Martin was previously unveiled by himself at an event in the Great Hall in Manor Hall in July 2019, a copy of which was on display at the Memorial Service.
